The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) exceeds a budget of $80 billion annually and serves more than 45 million disadvantaged Americans. It is becoming increasingly evident that government assistance programs, like SNAP, are becoming the targets of organized fraud.

To confront this issue, a consortium of states organized the NAC, a contributory system of beneficiary information meant to reduce duplicate benefit issuance and improve program access.

By sharing information between states, it will be easier to ensure that funds go only to eligible recipients. The hope is that, in the future, this innovative solution will extend beyond SNAP to additional state programs.
