Developer Case Study Contest 2014-2015
HPCC Systems Developer Contest Description
The HPCC Systems Developer Contest is designed for Developers and other Technical professionals to demonstrate how they leveraged HPCC Systems to solve either a Big Data or Complex Query problem.

Below is summarized description:
- Contest runs from 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time Zone on Thursday, September 25, 2014, and ends on Friday, July, 31, 2015 at 5:00 p.m. Case Studies must be received by 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time Zone on Friday, July 31, 2015, to be included within the Contest.
- Contest is in USA only
- All developers submitting a case study win the submission prize if Case Study meets Requirements
(Bose earbuds+ HPCC Systems Shirt + HPCC Systems Backpack)
- Case study must meet Case Study Requirements and be submitted by filling out the case study template and emailing to contest@hpccsystems.com
- All permissions (Slide 9 and 10) must be acknowledged by signature of contestant
- After the contest is over, all case studies will be included in marketing materials
(no personal data or confidential information should be included)
- Contestants may submit up to three (3) distinct case studies
- Potential winners will be notified via email by Friday, August 28, 2015
- Decisions of Sponsor and Judges will be made by Tuesday, September 29, 2015
- Winners will be announced on September 29, 2015 , and prizes will be awarded at that time.
- Developers, contractors, employees, family members, from Reed Elsevier and associated companies are excluded from this contest and prize offering

5. Discuss Why HPCC Systems Was Chosen for the Problem

6. Provide an Architect and/or Data Flow of How HPCC Systems was Implemented
7. Describe How the New System Performed Against the Prior System
8. Discuss if HPCC Systems Was Tested Against Other Solutions (i.e. Hadoop)
9. Describe How your Organization will Leverage HPCC Systems Moving Forward

Judging Criteria
Judges will evaluate submissions based on:
- Overall completeness of the case study (weight is 50%)
- Ability to demonstrate a “before” and “after” story (weight is 20%)
- Complexity of the original problem (weight is 10%)
- Include an architecture, diagram or data flow (weight is 20%)
In addition:
- All Case Study Questions must be completed, no exceptions
- All deadlines must be met, no exceptions
- Slide 9 must be completed, no exceptions
- No personal data or confidential information should be included in the Case Study write-up, no exceptions
